2017 BUZZ Awards Entry Information

It’s time to submit your entries for the 2017 BUZZ Awards!

Everything you need to prepare your entries can be found in the downloadable entry guide. But here are the highlights:

  • 2017 BUZZ Awards are for marketing, advertising, and design projects completed between December 1, 2015 and September 1, 2017
  • Deadline for submitting the Entry Request is Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 4:00pm
  • Each BUZZ award entry is $100

2017 CotY Awards Entry Information

The San Antonio Chapter is now going through the NARI HQ online platform for submitting the CotY Award entries!

The online system allows for an easier, digital, and more efficient way of entering for the awards. The beauty of this system is that you can begin working on submitting your projects now, save them, go back and add or edit them, and then submit them when you are ready!

Judging of the entries will be done by judges located throughout the United States, not just locally.

Please view the video linked below for additional information including how to submit your projects online, and allow you to enter the Regional and National CotY award levels.

Submissions for the 2017 San Antonio CotY entries will open on August 1st and closes on October 4th. All entries must be submitted by Wednesday, October 4, 2017. No late entries will be accepted.

Paying For CotY Award Entries

Each CotY submission has an entry fee of $125. These fees will be charged via the online site when you submit your entries from the cart.

About Gary W. Javore

Gary W. Javore was admitted to practice in the State of Texas in 1978. He joined the firm of Johnson and Christopher in 1981 and became a principal of that firm in 1983. The firm is currently known as Johnson, Christopher, Javore & Cochran, Inc. In 1993 he was elected to the Texas and San Antonio Bar Foundations. He has also been selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in American Law. He has served on the Greater San Antonio Builders Association Board of Directors since 1993 and is the General Counsel for the Association. He was named Associate of the Year in 1994 and Associate Legend in 1996.

Gary has served as an author and lecturer on numerous occasions for the San Antonio Bar Association, Greater San Antonio Builders Association, the Guada-Coma Builders Association, the San Antonio Board of Realtors, the Southern Building Show and Conference, and the National Association of Home Builders, including frequently serving as an instructor for Construction Contracts and the Law for the Graduate Builders Institute. Gary is the principal author of the latest revision of the course.

Gary’s law practice consists primarily of representation of clients in construction and commercial transactions and litigation. He has worked with more than 150 residential builders across the state, helping with business formation, writing contracts (including sales agreements [for spec homes], construction contracts [for BOL’s and custom home construction], remodeling contracts, subcontractor/supplier agreements, and limited warranties, drafting deeds, and assisting builders with the resolution of disputes, both as an advocate and as a mediator/arbitrator. He sits on the American Arbitration Association panels for Consumer, Construction, and Commercial Law and also on the panel for Conflict Solutions of Texas. Gary has been selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America” for mediation and arbitration since 2006 and was selected as the Mediation Lawyer of the Year for San Antonio in 2015 and as the Arbitration Lawyer of the Year for San Antonio for 2017.

Gary also works with developers, writing contracts for the development of land, restrictive covenants, and lot sales contracts.

Rehabarama 2017

On May 13, 2017 volunteers, local contractors, students, and neighborhood leaders will join together to revitalize and restore an entire city block with aging housing stock in the historic neighborhood of Denver Heights.

Purpose Of Rehabarama

  • Facilitate community engagement in neighborhood revitalization
  • Foster neighborhood and civic pride
  • Provide opportunities for hands-on service learning and trade specialization
  • Assist low to moderate income households with necessary repair and maintenance
  • Reinforce the Rehabber Club mission to build and support a network of everyday citizens to revitalize San Antonio’s historic buildings

NARI Participates in the NEISD Career Expo

The North East ISD Career and Technical Advisory Council will be hosting the 19th annual CareerExpo for middle and high school students. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 25, from 6:00p to 8:00p at the Blossom Athletic Center, located at 12002 Jones Maltsberger Road.

The purpose of the CareerExpo is to inform students of training, educational programs and career opportunities in many different fields. This event may be the first step students have in choosing their career pathway.
